HAT OF THE MONTH REPORT
August hats were knit hats in a variety of colors! It is always fun to imagine the babies in these hats.
A VOLUNTEER SIGHTING
What fun! I was at Turners Fresh Market the other day when Megan Karth came in with her mother-in-law, Gladys Karth, from Naples, Florida. Gladys has been one of our long-distance volunteers for about five years now! What fun to see her again! She is a busy volunteer in her own community and still manages to make items for CCH and mail them north. Thanks so much, Gladys! If you ever decide to move north, we will be thrilled to have you join us at work group meetings!
HAITI MISSIONS
Sally Christie contacted us with the need to send items to Haiti via some missionaries who are visiting this area through Shepherd of Lakes Church. We were able to donate over and above that which we need to support our hospitals and agencies, including items too big for newborns. What a great way to feel we are reaching out to even more in need!
HUGE THANK YOU TO: WAUPACA AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Wednesday’s mail brought us the fantastic news that Creative Caring Hearts will be receiving a $2000 grant from the Waupaca Area Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. Needless to say, this is news that will greatly benefit the babies and families for whom we provide layettes, hats, and other supplies!

If you know anyone on the Foundation, please thank them! The list the Board of Directors is listed below! We will accept the check at a Board meeting in September.

Our need is for all of you wonderful volunteers to have a delightful August off, so that you are excited to start again in September! Have a great month!
APOLOGY TO NANCY MILBRANDT
Nancy, my apologies to you for writing “Nancy Milhouse” in the July newsletter write-up on Camp Cleghorn Fabric Cutting Extravaganza. With all the lovely items you make, the least I can do is proof my writing and spell your name right! Thanks!

THANKS, MARY JO!
Mary Jo Feldmann, who makes weekly trips to the Valley to see her parents, has found some really terrific deals on fabric this month, including flannel and knit at JoAnn’s. With autumn and cooler weather coming faster than we want it to, these new flannel prints will be such fun for our cutters and sewers! Some are prints we have never had before!
THANKS ELLEN DAVIS AND CARL STRASSBURG
Above: Ellen Davis and Carl Strassburg look over the nearly 40 books donated to CCH from a memorial for Carl’s wife, Ruthann, who died in March. Please keep watching for more ways Dragonwings will be helping get books into the hands of babies and children of our community!
THANK YOU TO KOHL’S DEPARTMENT STORE IN PLOVER
We are so grateful that Rick, manager of Kohl’s in Plover, keeps CCH in mind each month just in case some of their special Kids Books and toys are left over. These donations are so appreciated!
